Dream Interpretation

Easy Dream Interpretation

Many people feel that they cannot understand their dreams because they appear to be mysterious or nonsensical. This common feeling is rather odd when one considers that understanding dreams is never an issue while one is dreaming. A person never thinks that he does not understand his dream while he is dreaming. It is only when he wakes up that confusion sets in. This mental fog is a result of switching minds.

As we dream, our subconscious mind is more dominant; however, when we are awake, our conscious mind takes control. The subconscious mind relies more on images; whereas, the conscious mind favors words. So when a person has been dreaming in pictures and suddenly switches to thinking in words, it can be a challenge to remember a dream and then understand it at a conscious level. Consider the following dream from a former client.

A gigantic bird is chasing me and I am terrified. It sweeps over me and almost snatches me up with its claws. It turns to make another pass over me. I run, but there is no place to go but over the cliff. I see the earth going black as the bird flies over me. I jump over the cliff and fall. I see a big purple ring sticking out of the side of the cliff and grab it. I catch myself from falling, but the bird is approaching fast. I wake up terrified.

My client had no conscious idea what the dream meant to her, but she was certain about the feelings of panic she had when she awoke. When she considered the dream literally, it did not make sense to her conscious, word-oriented mind. However, she understood that her subconscious mind produced the dream in images not in words. Only later when she was awake did her conscious mind capture the images by using words to describe them. How can one consciously understand dreams then? Actually, it is easier than commonly believed to understand any dream. All one needs is to do is use association.
