Hypnotherapist guiding client into a state of hypnosis

Private Hypnosis Sessions

The purpose of one-on-one hypnosis sessions is to help you change your beliefs to improve your life. When you have different beliefs, your thoughts, feelings, and behavior change. After your hypnosis session, you will have control over how you think, feel, and behave regarding your issue. You will feel lighter, happier, more relaxed and changed. You will notice a shift in your thinking. What once pained you will seem insignificant because you will be focusing your awareness on what's possible rather than what is impossible.

Another main reason why people try hypnosis is to tap into their latent creativity and intelligence. Many people are curious about hypnosis and may not have problems to resolve, but they suspect that they have potential which is not being used. Hypnosis is an effective technique for exploring one's vast intelligence.

Hypnosis for the First Time

Hypnosis has many levels that range from light to deep. Depth is just a metaphor that we can use to speak about hypnosis. For example, you may go "deeper and deeper" into hypnosis. Another way to gauge your experience is to think of hypnotic states as part of a continuum. What this means is that you may reach many different hypnotic states during your session. In other words, you will experience a range of awareness as your session progresses.

Most people reach a mid-level depth during their first hypnosis experience. However, some people go in lightly and others go in deeply during their first session. Regardless of the level you reach, trust that you will go to the level that is appropriate for you. There is no pressure to perform because all you have to do is relax. You already know how to reach hypnotic states because you have been doing it your entire life whether you knew it or not. For example, you reach a state of hypnosis when you daydream, drive a car, read a book, watch a good movie, lie down to rest, etc. Hypnosis feels different to each person. Most people have commented that they feel one or more of the following sensations in hypnosis.

  • drifting sensation
  • dizziness
  • lightness
  • numbness
  • rocking
  • turning
  • heaviness
  • tingling
  • peace
  • serenity
  • relaxation
  • disassociating from the body

Each time that you have a hypnosis session, you can reach deeper and deeper levels of awareness.

Hypnosis Session Procedure

During your hypnosis session, Angie will interview you to discuss the issue you want to change and what results you expect. Angie will take you into a deeply relaxing hypnotic state for which she will test. You will know that you are in a hypnotic state and from here suggestions will take hold. Angie will guide you into releasing your emotional blocks regarding your problem as they arise. If appropriate, she may regress you to a particular time or event in your life for deeper healing. She will help you de-charge your emotions. In the session, she'll help you to disrupt the negative patterns that have been controlling your behavior and replace them with more positive ones with your approval. She will then guide you out of the hypnotic state and, discuss your hypnosis session with you. You will be completely aware throughout the entire session and remember everything. You can also expect a follow-up call in a few days.

What else should I know about the session?

During the session, the point is to be relaxed. There’s nothing to prove by refusing to be hypnotized. All you need to do is to allow yourself to experience deep relaxation so your mind will become open to your hypnotherapist’s suggestions. Everything in the session will be done so that you can achieve your session goals and live more fully. Your hypnotherapist is there to help you with what YOUR goals are not anyone else’s. You are in complete control, and you work together with the hypnotherapist not against her.

Preparation for Your Session

The most important thing you can do to prepare for a hypnosis session is to set your intention for self-healing or for self-exploration. You can do this simply by creating a silent moment for yourself and intending to release the issue you are dealing with or intending to develop yourself. Envision or feel what or how you would like to be instead. Try to be clear on what your goals are for the session and keep it simple. Focus on one issue at a time instead of trying to address everything at once. Wear comfortable clothing to the session. Feel free to eat prior to your session.

Hypnosis Readiness Test

1. Do you have a problem that you want to change or an issue you would like to explore in hypnosis? (If you are simply curious about trying hypnosis and have no specific problem, answer yes to this question.)

2. On a scale from 1 to 10 (1=low and 10=high), do you want to solve your problem or explore your issue at a level of 7 or more?

3. Are you open to acknowledging issues that may come up during the hypnosis session?

4. Do you believe that hypnosis can work for you even if you don't know how exactly?

5. Do you understand that your hypnotherapist is there to help you and not control you?

If you've answered yes to all the questions above, you are ready for a hypnosis session.

If you've answered no to any of the questions above, contact Angie Choi and describe your concern. This conversation may provide you with information you do not already know which will help you feel prepared for hypnosis. Some people are curious about trying hypnosis and may not have a specific problem.
